Supporting a farmer in El Tambo.
UPDATE
We have received the following update from Leadwithcare – it is great to see how much a small investment can do for someone who wants to be successful – well done Nixon.
Great news — Nixon Marco has just made his final repayment and successfully repaid his entire loan!
Nixon has used this loan wisely to develop his business and has been successful in all his repayments to you.
Thank you so much for being a part of helping Nixon Marco and investing in his business.

I am sure you remember our blog explaining how we are supporting Don Nixon with his ambition to grow his own crops to support his mum and son.
We have great news! Don Nixon has started to turn a profit and is paying back his ‘Lendwithcare’ loan. We are so pleased for him and his family. Hopefully we will have some photos of his crops in the future.
Here is a recap on the Don Nixon’s plans.
Nixon Hidalgo is 23 and from a rural community called El Tambo which is in southern Ecuador. He is single but has a three-year-old son who lives with his mother.
Don Nixon grows cassava, maize, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and beans. He sells the harvest directly himself at the farmers markets in the small town of Catamayo. He is actually paid to care for a large farm but is allowed to grow vegetables on around one hectare of land. Through the income he earns he supports his parents and his son. Don Nixon estimates that he earns around $610 every three months or so when he sells his harvest. He requested a loan to purchase fertiliser, seeds and other inputs as well as paying three labourers $500 to help him plough and prepare the land ready for sowing.
